AZ began their operations in the Black Forest, in Germany.  Mr. Gerhard Wisser founded the company AZ Armaturen GmbH in 1965 with three employees.

The company founder, Mr.Gerhard Wisser, studied Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart and in 1991, his son, Jorg, became a partner within the company.

AZ built a  new facility in 1992 and it is located in Monchweiler, Germany, near Villingen-Schwenningen.
